Abstract
The mural works have been carried out in the metro stations since the start of the implementation of the first line of the metro in Egypt in 1987 AD. The mural works, from their inception, tell the history and culture of a different time and civilizational era that is compatible with the local environment in which the mural was executed. The murals, designs, and techniques used varied in order to integrate and fit with the mural. And the architectural space in which the mural is implemented, so the mural works in the metro stations came to improve the environment aesthetically and functionally, transferring and depicting part of the social, cultural, and geographical activities practiced and lived by the local community. In the impact of the use of mural works in subway stations as one of the most important problems that affect the aesthetic and functional form and the cultural impact in drawing the important features expressing the place and their relevance to the architectural form of the subway stations, with the development of basics and guiding criteria for choosing the proposed works in the subway stations. The aim of the research is to study and analyze several murals executed in some metro stations and the important features affecting the nature of the mural work there. With the enhancement of the cultural level and the development of artistic and urban culture for the metro audience.
