About Journal

The International Design Journal is multidisciplinary, open access, peer-reviewed journal, issued by the Scientific Association of Designers, an officially accredited society, in conjunction with the Faculty of Applied Arts, Badr University in Cairo BUC and Designers Syndicate. The journal is devoted to publishing state of the art research work in different fields of design, including product design, industrial design, interior design, visual communication design, interface design, animation and game design, media design, textile and textile printing design and other design-related fields. The journal is also concerned with all technologies related to all fields of design.
The journal sets sights on presenting a forum for the exchange of ideas, information, data, and findings from investigators and designers across different cultures. It also encourages examining all factors related to design theory and practice.
Designers are encouraged to present their know-how in design in any media and to provide notes on key issues they experience.
The Journal is issued quarterly in both printed and online forms and is supported by an international editorial board members who are expert in several areas of design. International Design Journal welcomes contributions in any research area of design.
Research work submitted to the journal is subject to DOUBLE-BLIND international refereeing. This means that the reviewers of the paper won’t get to know the identity of the author(s), and the author(s) won’t get to know the identity of the reviewer. The idea is that everyone should get a similar and unbiased review. Also, a board of prominent referees forms all fields related to design judge the quality and value of all offered studies.
In addition to evaluating research internationally by specialized committees of international referees working in all fields of product design, engineering and industrial design in all disciplines covered work in all applied arts, fine arts academic institutions

This journal is an international peer-reviewed OPEN ACCESS journal.
OPEN ACCESS means that all contents of this journal, are freely available on the public internet, permitting any users to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of these articles, crawl them for indexing, pass them as data to software, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without financial, legal, or technical barriers other than those inseparable from gaining access to the internet itself. The only constraint on reproduction and distribution and the only role for copyright in this domain should be to give authors control over the integrity of their work and the right to be properly acknowledged and cited.

Intellectual Property rights:

Copyrights are legal rights that attach to some types of intellectual property. Copyrights are granted to authors of creative works at the time of the work's creation in a fixed, tangible form. In publishing in this Journal, authors do not have to apply for or file copyright. Copyright is one of several intellectual property (IP) rights that exist, including, amongst others, trademarks, patents, and designs. Intellectual property is a fundamental right as stated by the Egyptian Intelectual property law No. 82  (2002) a similar legislations around the globe. The owner of a copyright has the authority to use the work in one of four ways (examples of each provided as bullet points):

  1. To reproduce and/or distribute copies the work, by making physical or digital copies of their work for colleagues, students, or others
  2. To prepare derivative works based upon the work, a subsequent article, chapter, or book that builds upon their original research
  3. To publicly display / Show / Exhibit the work or certain part of the work in the classroom or at conferences
  4. To publicly perform/ broadcast sound recordings via digital audio of the work

To allow knowledge and innovation to progress, this journal has adopted the OPEN ACCESS Policy meaning that this journal provides immediate open access to all its contents on the to make research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. This allows for wider and faster knowledge dissemination and a maximized research impact and citation advantage.
Upon submitting their materials, authors acknowledge that they transfer certain copyrights to the journal to allow it to comply with the open access policy.

Advertising policy:

  • The International Design Journal welcomes the publication of developmental and social advertisements and does not hesitate to publish commercials.
  • The Journal cannot publish ads that run counter to the cultural and moral framework within the community.
  • The advertiser is not entitled to interfere in the article published on the page of his declaration, and in such a case, the contract shall be canceled immediately.
  • The advertising contract shall be not less than 6 months only and renewable.
  • We do not allow more than one ad to appear on the same page.
  • It is agreed with the advertiser, in the light of the pricing policy, whether he/she wants the ad to appear only in a certain section of the site, or on all pages, including the homepage.
  • Ads placed within the site are also agreed upon at a variable cost, depending on the content of the advertisement itself.
  • International Design Journal disclaims responsibility for any services provided by advertisers within the ad units displayed on its website and makes it clear that the responsibility of any services provided within such advertisements rests with the advertiser alone.
  • The administration affirms that the content displayed in these ads is a paid content, and despite the administration's attempts to ensure editorial content that suits its editorial policy and respects its base of researchers, academics, and readers, it does not take responsibility for and does not guarantee any content displayed in such advertisements.
  • The advertisements are subject to the choice of the visitor alone, and may not return to the management of the newspaper or claim any damage to the visitor because of his choice.
  • The administration welcomes visitor communications about deceptive advertising or counterfeit content on our Contact Us page.

Plagiarism:

The journal has a strict policy against plagiarism. All submitted manuscripts are checked for plagiarism using professional plagiarism-checking software. Submitted manuscripts with an unacceptable similarity index resulting from plagiarism are rejected immediately.
