Abstract
Lighting has a comprehensive system of terms and concepts in order to raise the awareness of the audience directly or indirectly of its importance. The phenomenon of the succession of the day and night and light and dark that is derived from the nature since the creation of the earth makes humans feel safe in the light of the day and afraid of the dark in the night. This effect is the first and most prominent basic of lighting.  The research aims at outlining the artistic basics of lighting design in Yemeni Television Drama (YTD) that fulfill the aesthetics of image language. Moreover, it contributes to present the theoretical and experimental principles for the students of Radio and TV Arts department, faculty of Fine Arts, Hudaidah University as well as those who are interested in the art of lighting in the art of lighting in YTD. The researcher applies the descriptive approach to study and analyze the artistic basics of lighting in YTD. She finds out that YTD does not conform to most of the artistic basics to display the aesthetics of image language. This is mainly because of the lack of specialization in the field of lighting.
