Faculty of applied arts, Fashion design department, Banha university
Abstract
Egypt is a cradle of civilizations and a birthplace of diverse arts and cultures. Rich in ancient history, timeless monuments, folk traditions, and a wide spectrum of artistic expressions—from music and cinema to crafts and distinctive architectural ornamentation—Egypt offers an inexhaustible source of inspiration for fashion designers. This immense cultural heritage can be harnessed to create fashion collections that reflect and celebrate Egyptian identity and aesthetic values on a global stage.
Fashion is a powerful expressive art form that conveys the culture and identity of nations. It serves as a visual language for transmitting symbolic meanings. With its deep-rooted heritage and artistic richness, Egypt stands as a unique reference for designers seeking authenticity and creativity. In an era dominated by globalization and cultural homogenization, the need to return to one’s roots and incorporate national identity into design has become more crucial than ever—not only to enhance aesthetic value but also to foster a sense of national belonging among designers and students alike.
This research, titled "Fashion in Love with Egypt", presents a design vision inspired by Egyptian identity, applied specifically in eveningwear. It aims to blend beauty, intellect, and cultural pride through design. By highlighting the aesthetic, educational, and social roles of fashion, the study encourages the integration of heritage and civilization into modern fashion design. It also seeks to empower students to embrace their culture as a source of innovation, supporting national industries and contributing to Egypt’s cultural and touristic promotion through the soft power of fashion.
