Abstract
Many design concepts have emerged in order to reduce these problems that have appeared recently, as a result of environmental awareness and proper awareness of the importance of offering optimal solutions to them. Throughout history, man has made sure that its construction includes two basic elements: protection from the climate and an attempt to create a suitable, comfortable and safe indoor environment for life. Through this study, it is possible to determine the requirements of the occupants of the administrative space and to develop environmental terminology for interior design, towards the use of less toxic materials, improving indoor air quality and employing the design in a healthy way. There are many bodies to achieve sustainability and work on the classification of green buildings, including international systems applied in many countries and commensurate with the conditions of each country. The Bibliotheca Alexandrina building was considered as a case study and analyszed some of the environmental standards followed by it, and emphasis was placed on energy efficiency and its role in achieving the highest quality in the internal environment and evaluated in the light of the green pyramid evaluation system. It is a newly adopted local assessment system in Egypt, adapted to the environmental and climatic conditions in Egypt. The green pyramid evaluation system consists of seven determinants, the study focused on the determinants of energy efficiency and the quality of the internal environment, and each of them was classified into a group of different elements .
