The use of Artificial Intelligence Techniques to Enhance Creativity in Industrial Design

Abstract
Artificial intelligence (AI) offers a new perspective in industrial design through its precision and logical methods. AI programs analyze and process data to create designs or visual products, driving growth and increasing revenue while attracting more customers. The core research question is: How feasible is it to create modern industrial designs using AI programs? The research is important in two main ways: discovering innovative design ideas and highlighting AI's applications in industrial design. The objectives are to generate product designs using AI, reduce time, effort, and costs, and produce multiple designs with the flexibility to modify before execution. The hypothesis suggests AI programs can generate various designs for industrial products. A descriptive approach, supported by analytical methods, explores AI techniques and their potential in industrial design. The study also takes an experimental approach, conducting experiments to validate the hypothesis. Ten AI-generated designs for an industrial product (a small car) were evaluated through a questionnaire presented to ten evaluators, including faculty members and designers. The results showed a strong positive correlation between the four sections of the questionnaire, confirming the hypothesis. The researcher recommends adopting AI programs as essential tools for designers to create innovative designs. Additionally, AI can contribute to sustainable design by optimizing material usage, enhancing production efficiency, and minimizing waste, offering a more sustainable approach to industrial design. AI’s ability to provide creative, efficient, and environmentally friendly solutions positions it as a valuable asset in the evolution of industrial product design.
