Abstract

Many children experience feelings of fear and anxiety when visiting the dental clinic. The dental clinic is the ideal environment to helps the child overcome these feelings and encourages them to visit the dentist regularly. This research focuses on interior space of pediatric dental treatment centers, which are a source of many fears for children due to their intense fear of pain from treatment, a previous painful visit, or exposure to exaggerated images, depicting patient suffering during treatment. the sounds from dental tools and the odors from using such equipment contribute to these fears. These concerns are the main driving force behind the research idea, the problem of neglecting the design standards of dental clinics for children , dental clinics for children are designed without considering their psychological and behavioral needs. As a result, dentists face difficulties in dealing with children who exhibit negative behaviors during treatment, such as crying and aggression. These behaviors can lead to treatment delays, negatively affecting the child's oral health. Therefore, the research aims to identify design considerations for the dental clinic space that enhance the psychological and behavioral needs of children and to provide recommendations for creating child-friendly dental treatment clinics. Thus, the importance of the research lies in finding solutions for the interior design of dental clinics to manage children's behavior, allowing for better health care. Additionally, the research contributes to improving and creating a positive therapeutic environment that can help the child's mental health and reduce their feelings of fear and anxiety.
