Abstract
The folkloric art is an art that combines realism with abstract symbolism. The symbol is considered the most important feature of folkloric art. It is the artistic patterns of which the folkloric artist uses from his surroundings to decorate his products, giving it a special impression, on the condition that it carries the intellectual values of it. The inspiration process of symbols from the Egyptian folkloric art to design contemporary furniture is an important issue to modern designers. In order to use these symbols properly, it is important to identify their original meaning, significance and function. The expressive symbol in folk art is considered as a vital element that can be applied to the interior design of public spaces. The inspiration from folkloric symbols in the commercial furniture design, especially restaurant seats. Objectives: Collecting the symbols and inspiring the usage of them in design. Using folkloric enriched form of symbols in designing commercial furniture especially restaurant chairs. Methodology: Follow the inductive approach for analyzing the Egyptian folkloric symbols and using them in designing contemporary chairs for restaurants in Malls. Results: Symbol is a signal that describes the history of folkloric art, combining the old with the new can be applied to create a new way of designing. - Folkloric symbols could be used in designing commercial furniture (restaurant chairs in Malls) which attracts the customer's attention.
