إن معدل النمو السريع للأطفال بالإضافة إلى الحركة والنشاط المستمر يجعل معدل شراء واستهلاك الملابس مرتفعاً، مما يجعل له تأثير سلبي على ميزانية الأسرة وكذلك على البيئة.
يهدف البحث إلى تصميم وإنتاج ملابس أطفال مستدامة من عمر 2 إلى 6 سنوات، إلى جانب التركيز على الجودة والتصميم، وذلك عن طريق استخدام أربعة محاور رئيسية: أولاً، تحليل الفروق في المقاسات خلال الفترة العمرية قيد الدراسة. ثانياً، تصميم سبع قطع ملبسية تحتوي على تقنيات وظيفية للتحكم في اختلافات الأطوال والمحيطات بين المقاسات العمرية المختلفة، مما يدعم فترة زمنية أطول للاستخدام. ثالثاً: اختيار الأقمشة ذات جودة عالية الأداء. كما تضمنت الدراسة صباغة الأقمشة وطباعتها لتحقيق القيم الجمالية لديها. وفي النهاية، تم تنفيذ التصميمات الوظيفية المقترحة، وإجراء استطلاع رأي من قبل المتخصصين ومن قبل الأمهات / المستهلكات، وذلك لقياس مستوى الرضا عن مدى نجاح التصميمات موضع الدراسة ومستوى طلب المستهلكين عليها. وقد أثبتت نتائج الاستبيانات المصممة قبول جميع المنتجات السبعة من قبل المتخصصين والأمهات/المستهلكات بشكل لكن عام بقيم مختلفة.
