يعاني الأطفال المصابون بالتوحد من تأخر المهارات اللفظية والاجتماعية، وتقييد الحركات، والاهتمامات الحركية.يستكشف هذا البحث تأثير ميزات التصميم على الأطفال المصابين بطيف التوحد في الفصول الدراسية بالمدارس. غالبًا ما يعاني الأطفال المصابون بالتوحد من تأخر في المهارات اللفظية والاجتماعية، وحركات مقيدة، واهتمامات حركية. تهدف الدراسة إلى فهم كيفية الجمع بين الضرورات الصوتية لأجهزة الاستشعار والمتطلبات الصوتية الجوهرية للأشخاص المصابين بالتوحد الذين يعانون من ضعف السمع أو فرط الحساسية للصوت. يمكن لميزات التصميم أن تخلق بيئة صديقة للتوحد، مع أفضل الممارسات العامة بما في ذلك تجنب الألوان النابضة بالحياة والمشبعة للغاية وتقليل التباين الدرامي. تشير الأبحاث إلى تفضيل اللون الأزرق إلى الأخضر، مع نفور اللون الأصفر بسبب تأثيرات التحفيز المفرطة المحتملة. يُفضل الانتقال التدريجي للألوان والألوان التكميلية بالتدرجات الناعمة، مع قصر التباين على الأغراض الوظيفية مثل تعريف الحدود. كما يتناول البحث استخدام المستشعرات الذكية في التصميم الداخلي لتحقيق العيش المستقل للأشخاص المصابين بطيف التوحد. تهدف الدراسة إلى تعزيز التصميم المخفف حسيا كأحد احتياجات أطفال طيف التوحد في بناء الحيزات الداخلية.  وإثبات أن المساحات الصديقة للحواس مريحة للجميع مع تجنب تخصيصها للمستخدمين العاديين فقط كهدف لدمج مصابي طيف التوحد في الحيزات العامة دون تخصيص فراغات خاصة لهم كنوع من الدمج و عدم التميز مما يساعد في رفع مستوي الوعي  حول مرض التوحد  و دمجهم في المجتمع .
