تحقيق الاستدامة في تصميم المنتجات البلاستيکية

يدور البحث حول کيفية تحقيق الاستدامة في تصميم المنتجات البلاستيکية من خلال الحد من استخدام المنتجات البلاستيکية الغير قابلة لإعادة الاستخدام او التدوير واستخدام بدائل مبتکرة للمواد البلاستيکية، أو تصميم المنتج لتحقيق الاستدامة والحفاظ على المواد البيئية، وتکمن المشکلة في استخدام المواد البلاستيکية کمواد أساسية لبناء المنتجات والتي يصعب تحللها أو إعادة استخدامها أو تدويرها، مما تسبب في اهدار المواد وتراکم جبال النفايات الضارة بالبيئة والصحة العامة، وقد تناول البحث مفهوم، وأهداف، وتاريخ وأهمية الاستدامة بصفة عامة والاستدامة في تصميم المنتجات، والاضرار التي تسببها المنتجات البلاستيکية ومعدلات انتاجها في المجالات المختلفة والتوقعات المستقبلية لزيادة حجم النفايات البلاستيکية، إضافة الى عرض لأهم تجارب تطبيق الاستدامة في تصميم المنتجات بالعديد من الشرکات للحد من استخدام المواد البلاستيکية الضارة بالموارد والبيئة، مع بيان أهم الحلول الممکنة لتحقيق الاستدامة في تصميم المنتجات البلاستيکية، وتوصل البحث الى بعض الحلول الممکنة للحد من انتشار النفايات البلاستيکية، وضرورة إيجاد بدائل للمواد البلاستيکية أحادية الاستخدام في التصميم، وعدم استخدام المواد البلاستيکية دون الحاجة الضرورية الى خصائصها في التصميم، والاستعانة بالمواد البلاستيکية القابلة للتحلل أو إعادة الاستخدام أو التدوير في أضيق الحدود الممکنة.
